On December 2nd, 2007 a memorial fund-raising seminar was held for the Marcainte family in memory of Pfc. Luigi Marcainte Jr., a former Aikido Schools of New Jersey student killed in action in Iraq this past September. It was extremely heartwarming the way the USAF Aikido community extended their compassion and generosity to Luigi's wife and newborn son, Stephanie and Lorenzo. Both individual members and dojo communities from Maine to Florida and as far west as Ohio sent in cards and donations. The following letter was sent out by Shihan Stickles to commemorate the event.

To All Our Wonderful Friends,
Thank you all for making the December 2nd memorial service and fund-raiser for the Marcainte family a huge success. Between 40 and 50 people came and practiced while many more letters, cards, phone calls and donations came from all over to make for a super day.
The entire Marciante family was on hand to watch and Accursio, Luigi's brother, taught the last class. Special thanks to Sensei Jim Soviero of Aikido of Red Bank for teaching the first class of the seminar. Over $5500 was raised to help out Stephanie and Lorenzo.
Once again, thank you all for your participation, thoughts and prayers.
